A steel company ceased operations and large quantities of secondary steelmaking slag remained at the site. The slag did not have any commercial value and the high basicity of the slag and its high disposal cost for landfill would have left the site landlord with environmental responsibilities and onerous site clearance and landfill costs. Ferrousity produced technical reports and had the slag piles analysed and gave expert witness in London courts that resulted in financial compensation for the Landlord.
